Approximately eighteen months ago Xero purchased Hubdoc for a whopping $US70 Million! Hubdoc is an online document storage and data entry platform that integrates with Xero. Using the app to snap photos of paper receipts or the website to upload PDF bills, you send your bills into Hubdoc and it will automatically extract the key information on the bill so it is almost ready to go into Xero.

Hubdoc will extract information such as date, supplier, due date, amount and GST amount. You then set up rules specific to each supplier so next time you receive a bill from that supplier, Hubdoc will know exactly what to do with it and sends it directly into Xero for you, ready to be paid.

To save you time, Hubdoc will “fetch” your bills and documents from over 150 selected suppliers such as Spark, 2 Degrees, Bunnings, OfficeMax, Adobe, Genesis Energy, almost all NZ Banks and many more! This means that you do not have to manually send electronic versions of these invoices into Hubdoc as every time one of these suppliers issue you with an invoice, they will also send them into Hubdoc for you.

While Hubdoc is extracting information and fetching your bills it is also automatically sorting and organising your documents in a tidy, customisable folder structure so it is super easy to go back and find documents if you need them again. No more folders, filing cabinets or piles of paper.

While the first couple of months using Hubdoc can be a little time consuming as you get familiar with the website and set up rules for different suppliers, after a few months, Hubdoc can save yourself considerable time that you can then spend doing what you love.
